ABQjournal Newsseeker: ABQNews: Lobo soccer player suspended; See Video

  • Palinite · 1 month ago
She should be suspended from playing soccer forever. The UNM coach that punched an assistant, should be fired. The staff that covered the second incident up, should be put on leave for a month or two, with NO pay. What a disgrace.

What is going on with UNM sports? Obviously there is a lack of leadership in setting appropriate standards of behavior in the women's soccer program as we have already seen in the football program. Standards of discipline and sportsmanship need to be set and enforced and it is up to these coaches to do so. Lambert was out of control in many instances throughout the video. What was her coach doing on the sidelines that she didn't pull Lambert off the field? Choking somebody? We don't need these kind of players or coaches who either model or turn a blind eye to these out of control behaviors. I am a UNM alumni who used to be a proud supporter of Lobo sports and I am disgusted with these coaches and players.

UNM has two standards one for coaches and one for students. If a coaches receives 10 day then the student should only receive 10 days. If UNM had real standards both would be sent packing because we don't need them in our programs. I pay taxes and my taxes provide funding for UNM. Is this the best role models UNM can find for our children.

I didn't like seing that type of play either, and if you watch the video most of Lamberts actions were an over reaction to a BYU player doing something to Lambert. An elbow to the chest got a punch in the back and a wedgie on her shorts got the BYU girl slammed to the ground. In a real fight you bet I'm gonna hit you harder, but sports is supposed to build character. I saw poor character on both sides. However, Lambert "get some anger management girlfreind."

"There is no way to defend her actions"? Oh, come on, Krebs. Since when? You did a pretty good job of it with Locksley. Explain the difference.

Proves my point about Albuquerque. What losers.

What's your point? Only a loser would say, proves my point and then doesn't write anything else about it! What a loser!!

That is the most unsportsmanlike behavior and this girl should be charged with battery. How can you expect better behavior in your athletes when you have coaches that behave the same way. It's sad and makes New Mexico athletics look like a bunch of half wits. When are we going to expect better of our athletic programs?

THAT IS WHAT HAPPENS WITH CONTACT SPORTS (AND GREEDY UNIVERSITY PRESIDENTS).

AND EDUCATIONAL SYSTEMS WHICH FIND THESE SPORTS SO VALUABLE AS OPPOSED TO GETTING A GOOD EDUCATION!
AND THE FAILURE TO EMPHASIZE GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP - ONLY THE LADY LOBOS SEEM TO HAVE ANY CLASS!

Lambert was born in 1988, she is still learning and part of that journey is making a few mistakes along the way. I find it hard to believe that a girl in her VERY early 20's would be compared to, and held to the same oversight as a much older Head Coach that is highly compensated that had assured us during the hiring process that he can lead students to perform at an exceptional competitive level. That is why we call them Students...they are our kids, and we are supposed to provide a special place where they can be taught....by her statement she certainly sounds remorseful and willing to take this moment to grow, much different than the higher ground necessary as an adult to lead our kids on to the field of play.

Dear "a lesson learned" - Early 20s? I had two children of my own by that age. Yes there is a lot to learn - my mistakes continue - but it seems to me we all should have learned NOT to bully by what - third or fourth grade? maybe even first grade?
Society is too easy on our children and so is President Schmidly too easy on his staff. People should be able to control their anger/hostility/disappointments at a lot younger age than early twenties! And that includes Locksley.
I wonder - have any of the Lady Lobos ever exhibited this extreme behavior?

I think Elizabeth should have suited up for the Utah football game today!

She must have been raised by wolves lol. No wonder she chose the lobos as her school of choice. Looks like she spent too much time watching Vince McMahon programming. One too many evenings watching smack down maybe. I'm thinking a little anger management is in her near future. If the NCAA doesn't ban her for life from collegate atheletics then i would say the system is broken. This young lady has serious issues.

As a member of the Lobo Club that has donated over $500 in the past three years to the Lady Lobo
Basketball team and the volleyball team, I will think twice before I give any more donations of my hard earned money. A lot of money is spent on each athlete and they are subject to rules and regulations by UNM and the NCAA. As a spectator if I displayed such behavior at a game, then I would be thrown out. Hopefully, Ms. Lambert will be thrown off the women's soccer team for disgraceful behavior. Shame on her.

This young lady needs to see a psychiatrist; she needs to grow up and judging from her "sportsmanship", she won't be able to do it on her own.
